We stopped at Captains D's in Ashland Kentucky around 11 this morning Nov. 21.2017 and ordered takeout which we have never had a problem with. My husband had the catfish and I had the two piece fish and shrimp. We ate as soon as we returned home which is is Louisa Ky. but this time and this is the first time we both said what a lousy meal the worst we ever had there. His catfish were so small I gave him most of my shrimp the hush puppy had no flavor what so ever and I usually love them it was like a flour ball cooked., my fish was good the shrimp was good and the cole slaw was good. The french fries tasted like left overs from yesterday. We did get Shrimp cocktail sauce but with a takeout you usually get plastic spoons and forks and napkins. Nope we did not. It will probably be a while a long while before we go back there again.
Very poor. The fish has been cut down to very small pieces, but the pictures on the wall still shows beautiful pieces of fish. The three pieces of catfish platter was so little you may get one pieces if it was all in one piece, the orka was hard deep fried to long. I won't be back to the one in Ashland, ky . Maybe another one. My brother is a truck driver and he eats them and said the one in Lexington, KY still has the regular pieces of fish.
Food is always delicious and servers are attentive. Went about 2 weeks ago. Love their food!!
Great except for they forgot the Kids Meal toy
The last time we ordered there, the French fries tasted like they was molded. The big girl working the drive through was rude as all get out and she screwed up our order. It's not the first time we've had this kind of service with this at this restaurant. I would rather make fish at home. It's so much easier and tastes so much better. At least if you make it at home you can control the size and quality of the ingredients.
